Number line for addition and subtraction: This fun and hands-on math center will teach students how to use a number line when adding or subtracting. Easy to use and engaging, these task cards are perfect for kindergarten.
I made a new activity pack to work on addition and subtraction with my kindergarten students. I wanted something that is fun and engaging so that they would be learning without even knowing it.
Number Lines are very useful tools for teaching these math skills. I made this new activity pack to focus on how to use them.
hop along the number line
Hop Along the Number Line includes 2 number lines that can be used with the 12 addition or 12 subtraction task cards. These can be laminated to be re-used, there is a space for students to write their answers on the task cards (use a whiteboard marker) or there is a recording sheet.

Before students used this center on their own, I did a whole group input lesson on how to use a number line. This prepared them to practice using one on their own.
My students loved using this activity with these little rabbits I got at the dollar store. Being able to actually ‘hop’ on the number line is great for reinforcing this skill.
