Number line for adding and subtracting math activity for kindergarten. Learn how to use a number line with this hands-on and fun math center.
One of my most popular resources for my store has been my Hop and Buzz Along the Number Line activity. I have been wanting to make another version of this activity that is more suitable for the rest of the year, and not just more of a ‘spring’ activity.
I thought that using cars to drive up and down a number would be a really fun way to practice adding and subtracting!
Drive Along the Number Line
With this activity, you can practice adding and subtracting numbers from 0 to 10. I laminated the task cards so that students can record their answers with dry erase markers, and they can be reused over and over again.
I also laminated them double-sided, so that it took up half of the laminating I would have needed!
Race Along the Number Line
This set follows the same concept, except that it is for numbers 11 to 20. You can choose which set works best for your students, or get both to easily differentiate your centers.
It also comes with a recording sheet if you need to have students write down the answers that they get!
I love how fun this center is, and I know our students will be excited to practice their adding and subtracting skills! Both of these sets are available in my store. You can get them on their own, or buy them together for a discount:
