kindergarten writing papers: Use these writing prompts with your students to create class books. Make your writing center engaging and fun with these kindergarten writing papers!
One of my students’ favourite literacy activities this year was making class books. They loved taking part in the whole process- they got to see themselves as authors and illustrators, as well as readers. By involving them in the whole process, they stay engaged and excited to write.
When we have finished making a class book, I add it to the classroom library so they can read them any time. The books that they make are a favourite, and our students are always rereading them.
writing prompts
We have made a few class books this school year, but since they were such a hit with our class, I decided to make a year-long pack of them.
They cover different events (e.g. 100th day of school) and holidays (e.g. Valentine’s Day), as well as generic writing prompts.
I hope that our students continue to enjoy making them, and that they continue to be excited to read them!
what they are
Each of the writing prompts comes with a cover in colour and B&W to make putting together easy! We make books out of them, but you could choose to just use the writing prompts for your guided writing center.
Each prompt comes with a writing page with a space to add a picture, and just a plain writing paper for extra room to write.
The When We Grow Up book is perfect for the end of the year, and could even be added to their memory books. I am looking forward to doing this one, I can’t wait to read their answers!
A look inside
We have been learning about time in math these past few weeks, and this book was perfect for reinforcing writing out the time. Each student got to write about their favourite time of the day, and then explain why:
Each of our students had a great answer, and this book has already been read quite a few times since being added to our library.
