It’s the time of the year when we are starting to review letter sounds and formation. It’s also the time of the year when teachers have no energy left for planning and prepping. That’s why I put together these activities for our kindergarten students. It comes with everything you need to prep and plan for at least 8 literacy centers! Here are a few of the ways you can use all these activities (there are even more ideas in the download).
Letter Rainbow Writing
These worksheets were a hit with our students. They love doing any kind of rainbow writing, and I knew we had to work on letter formation with our students, so this was a perfect fit. They get to roll a die, then use the corresponding color to trace over the letters. Once they are done doing all the colors at least once, they have to fill in the second part of this sheet: draw something that begins with that letter. We had a lot of great pictures: dance, dog, door!
Letter Match! Activity Pages
This pack includes 26 picture cards that can be used with any one of the 4 Letter Match sheets. Students pick a card, then find the beginning sound, and color in the matching letter. This set also includes an uppercase letter page and tracing pages. These are great to work on beginning sounds and letter formation.
Picture Match! Activity Pages
This sheet can be used with the letter cards that are included. Students pick a letter, then cover the picture that begins with that letter. If you laminate this sheet, it can be reused over and over again.
The black and white version is also included, and students can color in the pictures once they pick a letter that matches its beginning sound.
Letter Drawing! Activity Sheet
This page can be used with the letter or picture cards. Students pick a card, record the letter or beginning sound, and then draw something else that begins with that letter.
