I am always looking for ways to have our students practice sounding out and writing words. It is such a jump from learning letter sounds, to applying that knowledge when writing new words. CVC words are a great place to start since they are simple and it is easy to hear each sound.
To get students practicing sounding out CVC words, I came up with this hands-on activity center so that they can have fun while writing words! Take a look at some of the pictures below to see what is included in this new pack:
Keyboard and CVC Words
I included two different sets of CVC word cards. Ones with the words and picture on them, and another set with just the picture. You can easily differentiate your centers by picking which set will suit your students’ needs.
Students can pick a card, then ‘type’ the letters on the keyboard to spell out the word. Make students sound them out, and say the words so that they can practice hearing each letter in the word.
Keyboard Recording Page
If you need an accountability piece for your students, you can use the included recording sheet. Students pick a card then write out the word and color in the letters they need to spell it.
If you would like to try this activity out with your students, you can get it in my store:
