Winter Sight Word Practice in Kindergarten

Snowflake sight word literacy center for kindergarten morning work or tubs. Perfect for sight word recognition and sight word spelling literacy center.

Do you get snow where you live? We just got our first snowfall this week, and it actually stuck (most of the time the snow melts and doesn’t stay on the ground after the first snow of the season). So now all I want to do is take out all our winter centers! This is an activity pack that I really like because the sight word snowflakes can be reused for all the different activities, and I have even used them in sensory bins or to compliment other sight word centers that we are doing during the winter months.

Take a look at the 3 different activities that are included, and let me know in the comments what else you could use the sight word snowflakes for!

Write the Room

Students love to get up and move around the classroom, so this activity is perfect for getting the wiggles out during those long, cold days. Simply place 8 sight word snowflakes around the classroom, and let students look for them and record them!

Sight Word Mix-Up

This is a great way to work on sight word recognition and spelling since the students have to rearrange the letters to find out which sight word it is. Easily differentiate this center by giving the sight words or not. Sometimes I put the sight word cards face down on the table, so that if a student is having difficulty unscrambling the words, they can turn over the cards to see what they are.

Sight Word Sentences

This is perfect not only for sight word spelling, but also to practice writing sentences and drawing pictures to match. Your students can be creative with this activity, and get some writing practice at the same time.

If you would like to use these activities with your students, you can take a look at it in my store:
