My Take a Look Back blog posts are a way of sharing some of the content I have on Instagram from the past week. I pick 4 posts that I want to highlight and take a closer look at, and write a blog post about them.
My second week of work has been a learning curve. I am continuing to learn more about my new role (I am now an Early Childhood Educator Facilitator), and want to bring new and exciting ideas to the table. How is the school year going for you?
Number Sense Provocation
I used items that can commonly be found in classrooms or at the dollar store to make this engaging provocation. Students can pick a number and show it with different materials.
You can change out the materials for some that you have in your classroom, or let students pick their own that they would like to work with.
Trace and Count
This activity is a great way to get students to work on their number formations and their one-to-one correspondence skills. I put out little stickers that I found at the dollar store to work on their fine motor skills too. This easy to set-up center kept them engaged since they were so excited to be able to use the stickers!
If you would like to try this activity with your class, you can find it here:
If You Find A Rock
This is a really simple fine motor provocation that we did last year. Students use a paintbrush and water to make designs on the rocks. They loved this, and it was great for us since it took no time to clean up!
I Am… Character Education Series
I put the finishing touches on my Character Education activities series last week, and I am so happy with it. The activities that I have included are an easy way to get students thinking about the different character traits. You can find the first blog post about these activities here, and keep an eye on this space because I will be showcasing each of them.
