Our students have had a hard time with vowels lately, so we wanted to work on identifying vowels, and reinforcing their short vowel sounds. I created this new craft with this in mind, and our students loved making their own Vowel Flower!
short vowel Flower templates
This pack comes with 5 different templates that you can choose from. I chose the one with a different image on each petal for every vowel.
This product also includes a version with blank petals, with just the vowel on it so that students can draw their own images.
You can also choose which vowel you want to work on with the templates that focus on each letter.
I instructed our students to color their pieces first, then cut them out and glue them. They were singing the vowel song as they worked, and I had to put out this activity for two days because not all students had a chance to make their flower.
literacy center
My students completed this activity during literacy centers. They were really excited to be able to choose this table. I also set out a variety of other play-based centers to reinforce this skill as well.
I also made an Easter Basket version that I’m excited for our students to make!
