As we are winding down for the end of the year, we are starting to challenge our students with some harder activities! I came up with these CVCe words spinner activities to work on writing and reading these tricky words.
Take a look at what is included, and if you would like to use these activities, with your students. They are all available in my store!
CVCe Word Spinner:
This first activity has 6 different spinners with different CVCe words on each one. Students spin and then spell the CVCe word they land on. We used magnetic letters with them, but you could also use white board markers, or any other letter manipulatives you have on hand. Our students had a great time trying to stretch out each of the words, and trying to find each letter to match the sound.
CVCe Word Spin and Write
This steps up the activity a little bit further, and has students use the CVCe word they landed on in a sentence. This was a real challenge for our students, and pushed them to really practice writing.
They surprised me with how creative they were with their writing. This also has 6 different spinners that students can choose from, so they can keep practicing!
CVCe Word Spin and Write
These worksheets have students spin and then write out the word they land on. Our students found this challenging, and we were able to help them correct some misconceptions they had while they were working.
There are 3 different worksheets with different CVCe words on each one, so they can review this concept a few times.
CVCe Word Spin and Color
This was a great activity for students that are just learning how to read CVCe words. They spin and then color the word that they land on. I find that students could identify the words when looking at the pictures, so they had an easier time stretching out the words. This was great to introduce the concept to our students.
This student color coded her answer by coloring the word the same color as the image. I found this so creative! We didn’t ask our students to do this, but if you want to make sure they are understanding the concept, it isĀ a great way for you to be able to check their work. There are 3 different versions of this worksheet also included.
