Why Teach the Butterfly Life Cycle in Kindergarten?

Assessing Butterfly Life Cycle Understanding
At the end of our butterfly unit, students complete a simple cut-and-paste butterfly life cycle assessment.
Rather than memorizing isolated facts, students sequence the four stages of the life cycle while explaining what happens during each stage using the vocabulary they’ve practiced throughout the unit.
This assessment helps me see which students have developed a true understanding of butterfly metamorphosis.
