Take a Look Back #48- dinosaur sensory bin, teen number stacking game, and more!

Teen number math game for subitizing, dinosaur sensory bin, end of the year teacher gift, letter construction stencils for literacy centers.

Going into my second full week off of school and I am enjoying this time to relax! I thought I could share with you a few more pictures from our last week of school:

Teen Number Stack ‘Em

Teen number stacking game that is perfect for number sense skills for teen numbers using subitizing skills. Great for grade 1 math centers, or for a challenge in kindergarten.

Our students needed a challenge in the last weeks of school, and these teen number subitizing mats were a great way for them to keep practicing their number sense skills. We started off by introducing how to make a group of ten and adding the ones to make the teen number and they did the rest!

They had a great time with this, and it had them working on a lot of skills: number sense, fine motor, subitizing. If you would like to try this out in your classroom, you can find it in my store here:

Dinosaur Sensory Bin

Dinosaur sensory bin for kindergarten classroom with book.

We had to keep our activities simple for the last week of school. We wanted students to stay engaged, have fun and still learn. By putting this book in the sensory bin with the dinosaurs, it encouraged our students to read! They were taking out the dinosaurs and looking through the pages to try and match them up. It was so great to watch them!

End of the Year Gift

End of the year gift for teacher co-workers. A pen present to say thank you to our teaching team.

I work with such a great team at our school. This past year, there were 3 other kindergarten classes, an awesome teacher-librarian and a great gym teacher. I wanted to show my appreciation for all their hard work, so I ordered these pens from Pengem. I love how beautiful they are, and they come in so many different colours. I got one for every female member of our team, and I got the male teacher some craft beer that he could enjoy cold!

Letter Construction

Letter construction stencils for kindergarten literacy centers and letter formation practice.

I bought these Letter Construction stencils from Scholastic and put them out with our writing center. Our students were not really sure what to do with them at first, but once I sat down and showed them what they could do- they took off with the idea! They started writing their names, making pictures and adding details to their drawings using the stencils. More than what I could have thought up!
