At the end of our shapes unit, students created 2D shape prints using foam stickers and cardboard. This was such a fun experience, and the results are amazing!
Materials to create 2D Shape Prints
These are the materials I used to create the prints (affiliate links):
- cardboard pieces (I cut up boxes)
- foam shape stickers
- acrylic paint
- foam paint rollers (use discount code creative15)
- paper (I used printer paper)
Steps to create the 2D Shape Prints
1. Make the Stamp

Students started off by creating their stamps. They placed the 2D shape stickers on their cardboard piece to make any design they wanted. I instructed them not to overlap the stickers, but otherwise, I let them place them wherever they wanted.
2. Paint
We then used a foam roller to spread the paint over the stamp. Less is more in this scenario, so I helped in this step and instructed students to roll a thin layer onto their stamps. They could pick from red, blue or yellow. You could do any colours you wanted, though!

3. Create the Print

Students placed their stamp on their paper and pressed down to transfer the paint and create their prints. They could choose to add more paint to their stamp and do this step again if they wanted to fill their paper!
Display the Prints

After letting the prints dry, we displayed them in our classroom. They turned out so well! We used 2D shape foam stickers, but this would work well with any foam stickers!
