We have been having so much fun this fall season in our classroom that I have decided to share more of the activities we have been doing!

Jack-o-Lantern Sight Words
Our students coloured and cut out the pieces to make their own jack-o-lanterns this week. They loved picking out the eyes, ears and mouths to make them unique.
I love that they had a chance to practice reading and writing sight words with this fun, hands-on activity. I am amazed at how much their cutting skills are improving already. We give them lots of opportunities to build their fine motor muscles, and it is really paying off!

Salt Trays & Sight Word Pumpkins
We re-used the salt trays I showed you last week (Fall-Themed Activities for your Kindergarten Classroom), and added our sight word pumpkins to them.
Our students love using the trays to practice their sight words, and I want to continue changing out the contents to match the seasons.
Of course we had to do the 5 Little Pumpkins sitting on a gate STEM activity. We gave our students different building materials, and challenged them to build a gate that could hold all 5 pumpkins.
Our students loved this challenge, and they made many different gates. I loved watching them problem-solve and work with their peers to build.
Sight Word Pumpkin Vine
Our sight word this week is ‘can’, so we had students make pumpkin vines with that written on it. It was great to reinforce the sight word, and our students loved putting it together.
I wanted to make a fun, little gift for our students for Halloween. I decided to make pointers and we are going to add them to their weekly reading books.
I love how cute they turned out, and I hope it encourages them to read with their families! If you would like to give pointers to your students, you can download the tags for free here (I printed 4 to a page):
