# Subtraction Activities for Kindergarten Math Centers

We recently finished our subtraction unit, and I thought I would share some pictures from my Easy Print and Prep pack. We used these centers to help our students understand how to subtract using different strategies. Take a peek at 3 of our centers:

1. Subtracting using a picture:

With these subtraction task cards, students can use the pictures to help them solve the equation. I laminated the cards so that they can be reused over again.

These were great for helping students visualize the subtraction process, and to help them understand how to use a picture when they subtract. Our students really liked being able to ‘X’ out the pictures to find the answer.

2. Subtraction Parking Lot:

So with this activity, I had a fight with the photocopier, and the photocopier won. I got really frustrated when trying to make copies of the work mat, and I didn’t want to waste any more paper (this was copy about 12). So this is what it looks like, and I am trying to be okay with that!

Students pick a card, solve the problem on the card using any strategy that they prefer (fingers, manipulatives, whatever works for them) and ‘park’ the card on the correct answer.

Our students love anything with cars, so they are more engaged when we give them activities like this.

3. Subtraction Pencil Puzzles

I printed these pencil puzzles on different colored paper to make it more visually appealing to our students! We added these fun bee eraser manipulatives for them to use to find the answers and our students were loving it!

They were really excited when they found the right pieces to match together.
