Instagram Posts of the Week #42- Teen number cards, bird seed sensory bin, rainy day class book and more!

Kindergarten classroom center ideas for fine motor station, teen numbers, CVC word sensory bin with bird seed, representing numbers and rainy day writing center

As the end of the year is approaching, we have been reflecting on just how far our kindergarten students have come. Some of them came to school not knowing any numbers and couldn’t write their name. With only 2 months left to go, we now get  chance to see how much their hard work has paid off! I love this time of the year, when we get to see our students use all the skills we have developed throughout the year.

Here are some of the fun activities we did this week:

1. Spin and Write

Spin and Write number sense math centers to reinforce writing numbers, using tallies and ten frames. Great kindergarten math center.

At the beginning of the year, some of our students couldn’t recognize the number 1, and now they are not only writing the numbers, they are using number words, tallies and ten frames!

I always find it so awesome to see how proud they are of their own work! You can get this activity in my Spinners Activity Pack:

2. Bird Seed Sensory Bin

Bird seed sensory bin for spring with CVC word activity for kindergarten.

Last week our sensory bin got filled with bird seeds, feathers, twine balls, bird houses and spoons. Our students loved digging through all the items to find the pieces to make the CVC puzzles (which can be found from The Kindergarten Connection). This was a great way to reinforce CVC words, and all of our students worked so hard to stretch out the words once they had put them together.

3. Rainy Day Writing

Rainy Day writing activity for kindergarten literacy centers with free class book printable.

As the spring weather hit us last week, we read the book Worm Weather and had discussions around why it was raining. We made this class book together, and I love all the ideas that they came up with to do during a rainy day: jump in muddy puddles, stay in and watch a movie with their family, or look for rainbows! Their writing is getting so much more detailed and they were more independent than ever at our writing station! You can download a free copy of the class book if you would like to use it for your class:

4. Frog Numbers

Numbers 1 to 20 one-to-one correspondance activity for kindergarten math center. Great for fine motor skill practice. Free number cards

Our students have become so confident with numbers 1-10 that we have now moved on to numbers to 20. We used this beading activity to reinforce counting those higher numbers, and fine motor skills.

Our students loved stringing the beads on the pipe cleaners, and it is something they went to again and again. If you would like to do this activity with your class, you can download the free frog numbers here:
