This Sight Word Turkey literacy center is a great way to get students reading and writing sight words in a fun way! I always find that I have to keep changing up our sight word centers because our students tend to get bored of doing the same thing over again. They loved the Sight Word Pumpkin activity, so I decided to make a series of these activities that I can change out every month without them getting bored of seeing the same character. Here is the turkey version, just in time for Thanksgiving!
Students have to pick out 4 pieces to complete their turkey and place them on the work mat. They can choose which wings they want, what colour beak they would like to add and pick a snood (the red fleshy thing that hangs off their beak)! Then they record the sight words they used.
There are 4 different work mats to choose from (each one has a different colour of turkey feathers), and there is also a black and white version included. It is going to be a perfect center to keep your students interested in reading and writing sight words.
